Spotlight on Local Businesses: Where to Eat, Shop & Support in Pasadena

One of the things I love most about Pasadena is that it still feels like a true community. Yes, we’ve got our share of big-name stores and restaurants but what really gives the city its heart are the small, local businesses quietly doing amazing things every day.

Whether you’re new to the area, looking to branch out from your usual spots, or just want to support more local, here are a few of my go-to places to eat, shop, and show love right here in Pasadena.

Where to Eat

Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery

A favorite for special dinners or a cozy evening out. Located on Green Street, this warm, stylish spot blends midwestern comfort food with California ingredients and yes, they have a full cheese program. Don’t skip the mac & cheese. Trust me.

U Street Pizza

The pizza is top-notch (NY-style with a California twist), but the vibe is what makes it a regular in the rotation. It’s casual, welcoming, and always a good call when you want something delicious but low-key.

Seed Bakery

If you’re the type who will happily wait for really good bread, this place is for you. Everything’s made fresh, with heirloom grains and no shortcuts. It’s the kind of bakery where even a simple baguette feels special.

Kogi Kogi BBQ

Tucked away off Colorado, this Korean BBQ spot is unfussy, affordable, and so satisfying. It’s family-run, the portions are generous, and it’s perfect for weekday dinners that feel a little celebratory.

Where to Shop

Gold Bug

A longtime local gem for anyone who loves art, curiosity, or things that feel just a little bit magical. You’ll find handmade jewelry, one-of-a-kind decor, and gifts you didn’t know you needed. A great stop when you want something thoughtful and different.

Homage

Modern goods, curated beautifully. Think quality textiles, ceramics, candles, and clean design. It’s small but mighty and every time I walk in, I find something I want to bring home (or gift to a client).

Salutations Home

Whether you’re prepping your own space or shopping for a housewarming gift, this spot on Mission Street has the best mix of elevated essentials and things you’ll use every day. Bonus: their wrapping is as beautiful as the gifts themselves.

Local Wellness + Lifestyle Favorites

Float Pasadena

An old-school soda fountain turned café, tucked right into the South Lake area. Come for the root beer floats, stay for the cozy patio and calm energy. It’s great for low-key meetups or a solo breather between errands.

Linnea Wellness Studio

For acupuncture, massage, or just resetting your nervous system. Linnea has such a gentle and calming presence, and her space feels like a deep exhale. Highly recommend if you’re moving through a stressful season (selling a home, anyone?).

Why It Matters

Local businesses are the backbone of any great neighborhood. They're the ones sponsoring your kid’s soccer team, remembering your coffee order, and staying open through ups and downs because they care about this place as much as you do.

Supporting them isn’t just about shopping small it’s about investing in the kind of community you want to live in.

Let’s Keep It Local

If you’re ever looking for a local recommendation where to host a dinner, who to call for flowers, or where to pick up a last-minute gift. I’ve got a running list that’s always growing. Part of helping people buy or sell homes in Pasadena means helping them feel at home here, too.

And if you’re a local business owner who wants to connect, feel free to reach out. I’d love to support what you’re building.
